Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT)
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based, short-term therapeutic approach designed to help individuals process and recover from traumatic experiences. It combines principles of traditional CBT with trauma-sensitive interventions, helping clients to address unhelpful thoughts and beliefs related to the trauma, learn coping skills for managing emotional distress, and gradually create a narrative of the traumatic event in a safe and supportive environment. This process helps reduce symptoms of post-traumatic stress, anxiety, and depression, leading to improved emotional regulation and a greater sense of safety.
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a highly structured, evidence-based therapy that helps individuals who struggle with intense emotions and self-destructive behaviors. It combines principles of traditional cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) with mindfulness and acceptance. The core of DBT involves finding a "dialectical" balance between two seemingly opposite ideas: acceptance of one's current situation and emotions, and the need for change to build a life worth living. It teaches four key skill sets: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.
Existentialism
Existential therapy is a philosophical approach to counseling that focuses on fundamental human concerns rather than specific symptoms. It helps clients explore how they find meaning and purpose in a world without inherent meaning. The therapy centers on four core "givens" of the human condition: death, freedom and responsibilty, isolation, and meaningfulness. The goal isn't to eliminate these anxieties but to help clients face them constructively. By doing so, they can live a more authentic and fulfilling life, taking ownership of their decisions and creating their own meaning. It is a collaborative process that encourages self-awareness and personal growth.
Narrative therapy

Narrative therapy is a respectful, collaborative approach that helps clients separate their personal identity from the problems they face. It's based on the idea that our lives and identities are shaped by the stories we tell ourselves and others. Often, people come to therapy with a "problem-saturated story" that has become a dominant, negative part of their identity. The therapist works as a co-author, using specific techniques to help the client deconstruct that dominant story and create a new, more empowering one.
